Curt Milada

Welcome to our Web Site. I'm a retired US Air Force Officer and Electronic Engineer. I started learning computers with the Commodore 64 in 1984 and took the plunge into PC computing in September 1995 when I bought a Gateway 100 MHz Pentium computer with Windows 95. The processor was upgraded to 233 MHz in July 1999. Then the Operating System was upgraded to Windows 98SE. March 2001 saw the addition of a 1.0 GHz AMD Thunderbird custom configured multimedia computer with Windows ME. Later a Dell 600 MHz laptop with Windows 2000 was added. In April 2007 came the addition of an HP 2.2GHz AMD Dual Core running Vista Home Premium. In July 2008 the transition was finally made from Dial-Up to Broadband DSL Lite.

My wife Milada enjoys playing computer games like Solitaire, Scrabble, and Mahjongg. Most of her games are on the old Win98SE Gateway computer but she sure likes Solitaire on the Vista machine. She also keeps up a database of books she has read. Mil is an avid reader of historical fiction and loves time travel books which keeps the Brevard County Library System busy.

Milada and I have three children (Chris, David, and Jill) plus three grandchildren. We are quite proud of our children. They have all successfully departed the nest. Milada and I live quietly with our dog Chelsea in Rockledge, Florida.

Rockledge is located about 20 miles south of Kennedy Space Center. We can watch the Shuttle launches from our backyard. I retired from the US Air Force in 1984 after 20 years, mostly in the Space Program. I especially enjoyed my years in the 6555th Aerospace Test Group working with NASA on the Viking and Voyager missions as the USAF Titan/Centaur Launch Controller and liason to NASA.

People often ask if I miss working. I was told upon retirement that after 6 months I would be bored and get a job with one of the contractors out at Kennedy Space Center. After 24.5 years of retirement I have not gotten bored. I learned music and am an amateur organ and keyboard player. That put me into MIDI music. On the Internet another world was opened to me. In addition to surfing the Net and reading the Newsgroups, I learned some HTML to maintain this personal web site and that of the Space Coast PC Users Group. After five years as SCPCUG Web Master I stepped down on Apr 28, 2003 to regain time for myself, wishing to further explore this computing world. My Web Master retirement, however, was short-lived. In September 2003 I was called back when my replacement resigned. I have been serving as SCPCUG Web Master ever since. The Internet has provided the means for me to get involved with Videophones, Videomail, Video Streaming, Video Editing, Voice Recognition, Text-to-Speech, Digital Photography, and CD/DVD burning. In short, retirement is great! I'm busier now than ever and thanks to the Internet have met many people and made friends around the world.
